Brian Kelly Named to USA Lacrosse National Team for Pan-American Games

Kelly becomes first St. John’s alumnus to represent the United States since Kieran McArdle
SPARKS, Md. – St. John's lacrosse alumnus Brian Kelly was selected to make his national team debut with USA Lacrosse at the inaugural Pan-American Games on Aug. 16-23 in Kingston, Jamaica, the organization announced this week.
Kelly was one of 22 players chosen to represent his country by U.S. Senior Team and Hofstra Head Coach Seth Tierney. The 2025 graduate will become the first St. John's player to make a Team USA roster since Kieran McArdle.
The Pan-American Games will serve as a qualifier for the 2027 World Lacrosse Men's Championship in Japan. The United States will open the competition against Puerto Rico on Aug. 18. The following day, the squad will meet Jamaica, where Kelly will square off against former St. John's teammate Danielo Parkinson. The Stars and Stripes will close group play against Colombia on Aug. 21 before the medal round on Aug. 23.
Kelly burst onto the professional lacrosse season this summer quickly becoming a standout for the Boston Cannons in the Premier Lacrosse League. In nine appearances, the attackman has racked up 24 points off 17 goals and seven assists. The Red Hook, N.Y., native made a statement professional debut exploding for three goals and two assists against the Philadelphia Waterdogs on May 16. Last weekend, Kelly scored a season-high four goals against the Utah Archers.
Kelly starred for the Red Storm lacrosse program from 2022-25. During his four-year career, the high-volume scorer totaled 197 points and 117 goals, both marks rank third all-time in St. John's lacrosse history. The two-time captain was selected to the All-BIG EAST First Team in 2024 and second team in 2025. During his final season in Queens, Kelly finished the 2025 campaign with 36 goals, 25 assists and 61 points. He became the first St. John's player to tally 60 or more points in a single-season since McArdle in 2014.
After graduating from St. John's with a bachelor's degree in business in May 2025, Kelly was signed by the Boston Cannons off waivers in 2025 before making his professional debut this past spring.
