Morris, Parque Earn ABCA Northeast Region Honors

QUEENS, N.Y. - Juniors Tim Morris and Jimmy Parque have each earned All-Northeast Region accolades as announced by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA). Morris was named to the first team, while Parque earned second team honors.
A third team Louisville Slugger All-American and a first team All-BIG EAST selection, Morris started all 52 games and batted .415 with 12 home runs, 17 doubles and 62 RBI. The first baseman scored 69 runs, slugged .677 and added a .492 on-base percentage. The junior led the team in batting average, runs, hits, home runs, RBI, slugging percentage and on-base percentage.
Morris, an 11th round (323rd overall) selection by the Seattle Mariners in the 2009 MLB Draft, entered the St. John's single season record books in numerous categories. The junior set a new school-record for runs scored and ranks second in hits, third in RBI, fourth in batting average, tied for sixth in home runs and tied for ninth in doubles.
In his first season with the Red Storm, Parque earned third team All-BIG EAST accolades. The junior played in and started 51 games and batted .360 with 17 doubles, five home runs and 61 RBI. The outfielder scored 53 runs, slugged .509 and added a .425 on-base percentage.
Parque also entered the single season record books in 2009. The junior ranks tied for fourth in RBI, tied for eighth in hits, tied for ninth in doubles and ninth in at-bats.
