Leaverton Named To WPSL All-East Team

QUEENS, N.Y. - St. John's women's soccer player Jen Leaverton has been named to the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) All-East second team, as announced by the organization.
Playing for the Bay State Selects out of Easton, Mass., Leaverton scored eight goals and recorded three assists for 19 points in 11 games. In four matches this season, she was named the most valuable player on offense.
Leaverton had a breakout rookie campaign for the Red Storm in 2008. She led the team with three goals, two were game winners, and added an assist to tie for the lead with seven points. She was the only freshman to see action in all 19 contests for the Red Storm last season, and finished the year with 29 shots and a team-best 16 shots on goal.
A Mansfield, Mass., native, Leaverton scored the game-winning goal in 1-0 victory over Towson on Aug. 29. She scored two goals in BIG EAST action, tallying the winner in a 1-0 victory over USF on Oct. 12 and scoring the equalizer in 1-1 tie with UConn on Oct. 26.
