Baseball America Names Hopkins A Valley League Top 10 Prospect

QUEENS, N.Y. - Junior third baseman Greg Hopkins has been named one of the top 10 prospects in the Valley League as announced by Baseball America. Hopkins, tabbed as the seventh-best prospect, played for the Valley League Champion Haymarket Senators.
Hopkins played in 51 games, including 50 starts, for the Senators and ranked fifth in the league with a .345 batting average. The third baseman led the league in hits (69) and ranked fourth in total bases (99) and tied for fifth with 14 doubles. A Valley League All-Star selection, Hopkins also tallied four home runs and 33 RBI, while posting a .495 slugging percentage and a .413 on-base percentage.
Hopkins represents the Red Storm's fourth Baseball America summer league top 10 prospect in the past three years. Tim Morris was a top 10 prospect in the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League in 2008, while Justin Gutsie and Brian Kemp were named top 10 prospects in the New England Collegiate Baseball League in 2007.
