Ramdin Nabs BIG EAST Player Of The Week Honors

St. John's Ramdin Earns BIG EAST Player of the Week Honors
Sophomore Darlene Ramdin of the St. John's volleyball team earned BIG EAST Player of the Week accolades as announced by the BIG EAST office on Monday. Ramdin, an STJ Classic All-Tournament team honoree, claims Player of the Week honors for the first time in her career. Ramdin's 85 kills last week outscored the next-highest point leader in the BIG EAST by 28.
Ramdin returned to the Red Storm after finishing up the summer at the World Nationals playing for her native Trinidad and Tobago team. The sophomore made her season debut against Stony Brook last week where she led the attack for St. John's with 20 kills.
The Diego Martin, Trinidad and Tobago native notched a career-high 29 kills against Boston College on Friday before pounding down 11 kills against Quinnipiac. Ramdin finished the STJ Classic with 25 kills against Fordham to land All-Tournament team accolades. The Red Storm returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 8 as it hosts Siena for Camper Reunion Day. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
