QUEENS, N.Y. - St. John's head track & field coach Jim Hurt released the 2010-11 indoor and outdoor season schedules on Thursday.
After opening the season on Dec. 1 at Manhattan College, the Red Storm will host an indoor meet in South Huntington, N.Y., on Wed., Dec. 8. The event will mark the first time that the Red Storm has ever hosted an indoor meet.
"We are very excited about this year's track & field schedule," Hurt said. "We have the opportunity to compete against some of the best teams in the country in some of the best venues. We are also excited to be hosting our first-ever indoor meet in December."
The Red Storm will compete in four different indoor meets at the Armory in Manhattan, including the Metropolitan Championships on Jan. 29.
This year's Indoor BIG EAST Championships will be held at the University of Akron in Akron, Ohio, on Feb. 19-20.
The Indoor ECAC Championships will once again take place at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston, Mass., on March 5-6. The next week's NCAA Championships will be at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas.
The Red Storm will open the outdoor season on March 18 at the Central Florida Invite, before traveling to Rice University for the Victor Lopez Classic the next weekend.
St. John's will host its annual Monday Meeting on April 11 at DaSilva Memorial Track. The outdoor Metropolitan Championships will be held on the campus of Southern Connecticut State on April 16.
The 2011 Outdoor BIG EAST Championships will be hosted by Villanova University beginning on May 6. St. John's will compete in the ECAC Championships on Fri., May 13, at Princeton University. This year's NCAA Championships will take place at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, on June 8-11.
