Stevens Named To BIG EAST Honor Roll

QUEENS, N.Y. - St. John's women's basketball player Da'Shena Stevens was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll, as announced by the league today.
Stevens led the Red Storm to a perfect 3-0 record with wins over Rutgers, Villanova and Pittsburgh, and helped the team clinch the No. 4 seed in the BIG EAST Tournament with her near double-double effort. The sophomore averaged a team-high 17.0 points and 9.0 rebounds.
The Stamford, Conn., native scored 12 points and corralled five rebounds to lead STJ to a 60-52 victory over Rutgers on Feb. 24. Her play snapped a 17-game losing streak to the Scarlet Knights and also gave the Red Storm its second win on the road against RU.
Stevens went on to score a game-high 22 points en route to surpassing the 800-point plateau in a 69-42 win over Villanova on Feb. 27. She also added seven boards and was a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line against the Wildcats in STJ's home finale.
In a decisive game for the Red Storm, Stevens led the team to victory with 17 points and a career-high 15 rebounds at Pitt on March 1. Her effort gave STJ its 12th league win of the season, tying the program high. She played a team-high 35 minutes against the Panthers.
