Versatile guard will arrive following two years at Duquesne
QUEENS, N.Y. – St. John's women's basketball Head Coach Joe Tartamella welcomes the addition of Duquesne transfer Reina Green to its 2026-27 roster.
The guard appeared in 62 contests, making 34 starts over two seasons with the Dukes and began her career at the junior college level at Pensacola State.
"Reina's a versatile guard, who will bring a wealth of experience to our basketball team," said Tartamella. "She can defend multiple positions, make plays for her teammates and possesses a strong scoring prowess. She will be an impact player that will be able to help us right away."
The Fort Lauderdale, Fla., native registered a productive junior campaign in which she appeared in all 31 games, making 23 starts. Green ranked third on the team in scoring at 7.8 points per game, second in rebounding (5.2) and assists (1.5) per game. Defensively, she recorded 1.0 steals per outing, which ranked fourth on the team and shot 71.4% from the charity stripe.
The junior recorded two double-doubles and reached double-figures in scoring 12 times throughout the season. Green posted 14 games with six or more rebounds and registered the first double-double of her collegiate career with 11 points and 13 rebounds in a win over Loyola Chicago on Feb. 11. Later in the season, the guard delivered a breakout offensive performance with a career-high 20 points, four three-pointers and seven rebounds in a road victory at Saint Louis on Feb. 25.
During her first year in Pittsburgh, Green appeared in 31 games with 11 starts, logging 2.5 points and 2.0 rebounds per game in a reserve role. Her best outing against Fordham on Jan. 9, where she totaled nine points, three rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Green was a part of a Duquesne squad that won 21 games and advanced to the WNIT Super 16.
Prior to competing at the Division I level, Green began her collegiate career at Pensacola State College, a NJCAA school in her home state. In six appearances, she averaged 8.2 points and 6.0 rebounds per game, while shooting 44.4% from the floor. She opened her career with a double-double against Florida Southwestern and later scored 17 points, including three made three-pointers in a victory over East Georgia State College.
Prior to college, Green starred at St. Thomas Aquinas High School under head coach Oliver Berens. A four-year letterwinner and two-year starter, she helped lead the Raiders to three state championships and three district titles. As a senior, the guard averaged 8.9 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.7 steals per game while earning Defensive Player of the Year honors and receiving the Raiders Award.
Green joins five returners from this year's squad, transfers Asia Donald (West Georgia) and Sanaa Tripp (Belmont), along with a trio of incoming freshmen on the Johnnies' 2026-27 roster.
