QUEENS, N.Y. - Freshman Tyler Novotny was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll this week, as announced by the conference office.
Novotny notched career highs in goals and points as he scored three goals and collected one assist in St. John's 12-10 loss to 13/13 Villanova on Saturday. Novotny also picked up three ground balls in the game.
The breakout game comes in just the third start of the season for the native of Collegeville, Pa. Novotny scored his first career goal in the Red Storm's overtime victory over Vermont. He currently has eight goals and one assist on the season.
This week's honor is the first for Novotny and marks the fourth straight week that St. John's has players represented in the BIG EAST Weekly Awards.
The team returns to action on Saturday when Notre Dame comes to town for a 1 p.m. game. The event will also mark the second annual Lacrosse For Autism game, sponsored by Lacrosse Unlimited.
