Red Storm Takes Fifth Place At BIG EAST Tournament

PALM HARBOR, Fla. - The St. John's women's golf team saved its best round for last as the Red Storm carded a third-round 306 Tuesday to finish in fifth place in the BIG EAST Championship at the Island Course of Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club.
Louisville won the tournament with a 311-305-304-920 (+56). South Florida finished at 64-over 928 and Notre Dame shot 72-over 936 to take second and third place, respectively.
The Red Storm improved on its second-round score by 17 strokes to finish at 326-323-306-955 (+91).
Seniors Renee Cloutier, Michele Romano and Lois Kim led the way for St. John's in their final tournament competing for St. John's. Cloutier tied for seventh after shooting one of the best individual rounds of the tournament with a 3-over 74 on Tuesday to finish at 21-over 234. Michele Romano took 11th place, improving with each round to finish at 80-79-78-237 (+21). Kim also made strides each round, finishing tied for 15th at 82-79-78-239 (+23).
Sophomore Ellen Oswald tied for 28th after carding an 87-84-76-247 (+31). Freshman Mariana Barrios took 31st after shooting 85-85-83-253 (+37).
