DES MOINES, IOWA - St. John's rising sophomore Stephanie Barnes placed 10th in the triple jump, while rising senior Priscilla Frederick placed 12th in the high jump at the USA Track & Field National Championships.
Frederick entered Saturday's competition fresh off an All-American performance at the NCAA Championships. She placed 12th with a height of 1.75 meters against some of the best performances in the meet's history. Chaunte Lowe, who took first place, went on to set a new American record with a top height of 2.05 meters.
"Priscilla was part of an historic day in U.S. high jumping," said head coach Jim Hurt. "She has had a tremendous season that will go down as one of the best in Red Storm history. We take pride in all that she has accomplished."
Frederick concluded her 2009-2010 season with two All-American finishes at the indoor and outdoor NCAA Championships and first place finishes at the indoor and outdoor ECAC Championships.

Barnes, competing in her first national competition of her collegiate career, jumped 11.51 meters (37' 9.75") to finish 10th in the Junior Division of the triple jump. Barnes has had several notable Top 10 finishes this season, including finishing ninth at the indoor ECAC Championships.
"Finishing in the Top 10 in the country is an outstanding achievement," said Hurt. "We are really proud of Stephanie's accomplishment as she continues to carry on the strong Red Storm tradition of success at the national level."
St. John's alum Grace Zollman placed 12th in the javelin throw with a distance of 46.12 meters.
