QUEENS, N.Y. - On August 4, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced that the St. John's women's track & field team earned Division I All-Academic team honors. This marks the fourth-straight season that St. John's has earned that distinction.
St. John's posted a 3.23 team GPA, placing the Red Storm among the 151 Division I women's teams that were recognized in 2010. In order to be considered, a program must establish a minimum team GPA of 3.0 and record a team score at an NCAA Regional meet.
The Red Storm's academic and athletic achievements also helped the BIG EAST lead all other conferences, as 12 teams were honored this season.
"We are very proud of our team's efforts in the classroom," said head coach Jim Hurt. "They have proved to be outstanding students, and their ability to juggle both academics and athletics is a testament to their hard work."
This past winter, the St. John's cross country team also earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, posting a 3.50 GPA.
