Leaverton, Marron And McLaughlin Earn BIG EAST Postseason Honors

QUEENS, N.Y. - For the second year in a row, the St. John's women's soccer team placed two student-athletes on the BIG EAST All-Conference teams, which were announced by league officials at the annual BIG EAST Awards Dinner on Thursday night in Morgantown, W. Va. Additionally, the Red Storm had its first All-Rookie team selection since 2002. Senior forward Jen Leaverton and sophomore Amy Marron were both selected to the All-BIG EAST second team, while freshman Caitlyn McLaughlin was named to the All-Rookie squad.
Leaverton led the Red Storm in scoring with 10 goals, including six game-winners. The Mansfield, Mass., native tallied 22 points in her senior season, a career-high for the forward. Her 22 points tied her with Cristin Burtis at No. 6 in the all-time record books for most points in a season. Leaverton's 10 goals also tied Kaitlin Schmidt for No. 5 on the single season chart.
The senior forward was named to the NYC St. John's Classic All-Tournament team and earned All-BIG EAST honor roll accolades twice in 2011 (Oct. 3 and Oct. 24). She was also named the BigAppleSoccer.com National Player of the Week for Oct. 3 after scoring back-to-back game-winners, and all three goals at Rutgers (Sept. 30) and Seton Hall (Oct. 2). Leaverton also catapulted the Red Storm into the BIG EAST Tournament, when she scored two goals in the regular-season finale against Syracuse (Oct. 21).
Leaverton finished her career with the Red Storm with 39 points on 17 goals and five assists. With 17 career goals, Leaverton becomes No. 9 in the all-time record books.

In just her second season with the Red Storm, Marron has played in all 37 games of her career, starting 36. In 2011, the Valhalla, N.Y., native had a season-best three assists, including the assist on Leaverton's game-winner against Syracuse. The midfielder tallied her first assist of the season at Seton Hall (Oct. 2) and also recorded an assist vs. USF (Oct. 16), in addition to her game-winning assist vs. the Orange. For her career, Marron has recorded 10 points off three goals and four assists.

For the first time since 2002, the Red Storm placed a student-athlete on the All-Rookie Team with McLaughlin. The Fairfax Station, Va., native played in 16 games and started five as a rookie forward. McLaughlin finished the season as the Red Storm's second-highest point scorer with eight. The freshman tallied two goals and added four assists in 451 minutes of action. McLaughlin recorded her first college point against Yale on Sept. 11 and assisted on the game-winning goal in overtime against Connecticut (Sept. 18) and in a win at Rutgers (Sept. 30). She scored the game-tying goal vs. Georgetown in the 74th minute of action on Sept. 25.
