TEAM NOTES
St. John's is 20-8 overall, including a 9-6 mark in the BIG EAST Conference.
It's St. John's second-straight 20-win season and fourth under head coach Kim Barnes Arico. It also marks the 12th 20-win season in program history.
The win is Barnes Arico's 150th at St. John's as she improved to 150-121. Barnes Arico has a career record of 244-193.
STJ improved its series record with Pittsburgh to 32-16 overall and 17-5 at home.
St. John's seniors Sky Lindsay and Centhya "Coco" Hart played in their final game in Carnesecca Arena and were honored prior to the contest.
With the win, Lindsay and Hart finish off their careers with a 46-15 record at home.
St. John's ends the 2010-11 regular season with a 10-3 record at home and is now 23-4 at home since the beginning of the 2009-10 season.
The Red Storm outscored the Panthers 44-18 in the paint, tying for second highest points in the paint total this season. The season-high was 46 against Southern Mississippi in the STJ-Chartwells Holiday Classic (Dec. 18)
STJ also outscored Pitt, 19-5, in points off tunrovers, 16-8, in fast-break points, and 17-9 in points off the bench.
Nine of the 10 St. John's players that saw action in the game scored, with three scoring in double figures.
The Red Storm recorded 10 steals in the game, marking the 14th time this season with double-digit steals.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
Da'Shena Stevens led the Red Storm with 15 points and eight rebounds, marking her sixth-consecutive game scoring in double figures. STJ improved to 8-2 when Stevens is the leading scorer and 11-2 when she leads the team on the glass.
With a free throw in the first half, Stevens took sole possession of 11th place on the all-time scoring list at St. John's with 1,201 career points.
Hart added 13 points in her regular-season finale with Red Storm, marking her second-straight game with double digits.
Sophomore guard Shenneika Smith picked up her 19th double-digit scoring performance of the season, scoring 12 points in the win, all in the second half.
Sophomore point guard Nadirah McKenith fell just short of her third-career double-double with nine point and nine assists. It was her fourth game of the season with nine assists. McKenith went 7-of-8 from the free throw line.
Hart, Smith and McKenith all picked up six rebounds in the game.
Sophomore Jennifer Blanding tied a career-high with six points and added three blocks in the win.
Freshman guard Keylantra Langley dished out a career-high four assists in the game.
