QUEENS, N.Y. - The St. John's softball team's weekend three-game series against Georgetown has been reduced to a doubleheader on Sunday due to inclement weather on Saturday and a ruling by the BIG EAST Conference that the third game would not be made up on Monday.
The Red Storm (18-23, 5-6 BIG EAST) and the Hoyas (10-32, 3-5 BIG EAST) will square off for the first time since 2009 when they play in a Sunday doubleheader at Guy Mason Field starting at noon. Heavy thunderstorms expected in the Washington, D.C., area on Saturday prompted the initial movement of the games to a Sunday-Monday format.
This year, St. John's is 4-0 in two-game BIG EAST series. The Red Storm swept Seton Hall on April 6 and picked up a pair of comeback, extra-inning wins at home over Villanova on April 14.
