QUEENS, N.Y. - St. John's women's soccer played its first of two season-opening exhibition games on Wednesday against neighboring Long Island University, under the lights of Belson Stadium. The Red Storm defeated the Blackbirds, 1-0.
In the second period, sophomore Sandra Osbornscored the lone goal of the event. The Red Storm and Blackbirds played three 35-minute sessions in running time. It was Osborn's first goal, including last fall and spring play.
Coming up, the Red Storm will travel east down I-495 to visit the Stony Brook Seawolves for a 2 p.m. road exhibition contest on Saturday, Aug. 13.
The season will officially commence on Friday, Aug. 19, when St. John's travels below the Mason Dixon Line to play a pair of first time opponents in William & Mary on Aug. 19 and George Mason on Aug. 21.
