QUEENS, N.Y. - St. John's women's soccer rookie Emily Cubbage was recognized by TopDrawerSoccer.com as one of the Class of 2016's elite as she was selected as No. 80 in the site's top 100 midseason rankings.
"Emily made quite an impact in her freshman season with St. John's women's soccer," head coach Ian Stone said. "We look forward to watching her continued improvement through her fantastic work ethic, competitiveness and desire to learn."
A Rio Rancho, N.M., native, Cubbage led the Red Storm in points this season (eight) with three goals and two assists. She started all 17 games for the Red Storm, making an immediate impact as key members of the St. John's veteran starting midfield were injured to start the season.
Cubbage tallied her first-career goal and first-career assist against Air Force (Aug. 24), the third game of the season. Her goal was the game-winner in double overtime for St. John's, giving the Red Storm the 2-1 victory over Air Force. The rookie had her first-collegiate multi-goal game at Fordham (Sept. 7), once again scoring the game-winning goal, this time in a 2-0 win against the Red Storm's local rivals.
To add to her point tally, Cubbage also assisted the eventual game-winning goal in St. John's 4-0 rout of Seton Hall (Sept. 30).
