St. John's Heads To Fairfield For Midweek Action

QUEENS, N.Y. - After rain washed out the final two games of the Coastal Carolina Invitational, St. John's (3-6) returns to the Northeast and continues its season-opening stretch of 14-straight road games with a midweek contest at Fairfield (4-5). The Red Storm will play the Stags at 3 p.m. on March 7 at Alumni Baseball Diamond.
Leading Off
- Matt Wessinger leads the conference and ranks tied for sixth in the country with 11 stolen bases, a total that is more than the team totals for seven BIG EAST squads. Wessinger is also second in the nation with 1.22 steals per game. As a team, St. John's ranks fourth in the league with 17 steals.
- The Red Storm is 3-0 this season when scoring in the first inning, but 0-6 when the opponent scores in the first frame.
Inside The Series With Fairfield
- This will be the 29th meeting in an all-time series that dates back to 1957.
- St. John's leads the series 24-4, including a 7-2 mark in games played at Fairfield.

Fourth Game Added To Weekend Series At Liberty
- St. John's and Liberty have added a fourth game to this weekend's series at Worthington Stadium in Lynchburg, Va.
- The teams will now play a doubleheader on Saturday, March 10 rather than the originally scheduled single game with first pitch moving up to 1 p.m. to accommodate the twinbill.
