QUEENS, N.Y. --St. John's softball senior outfielder Kristi Cady and sophomore pitcher Ashley Beza were named to the BIG EAST All-Tournament Team as announced by the conference.
Cady led the team during the season with a .379 batting average, en route to being named second team All-BIG EAST, and was the top performer for the Red Storm at the plate during the conference tournament, going 3-for-6 with a double and two of the Johnnies' five runs scored.Cady had one of the memorable highlights of the weekend, ranging to her right to collect a line drive for the final out of St. John's win over two-time defending conference champion Syracuse and running to the infield to a swarm of teammates celebrating.
Beza led St. John's with a 2.79 ERA while pitching 223.1 innings, the fourth-highest single season total in Red Storm history. At the BIG EAST Tournament, Beza threw a one-run gem against the Orange and made the start in the team's first appearance in the conference semifinals since 1990.
