NEW YORK, N.Y. -
St. John's Head Coach Joe Tartamella
On the Game:
"We're very happy as a staff. This is the first game all season we really played a full forty minute game. We've really been looking for that kind of effort the last couple of weeks. It was a great effort for us tonight especially at the Garden, which is a great place to play. These players have always enjoyed playing here over the years. Being able to come in here now, especially for our seniors with this being their last opportunity, a win is important for them. We're excited that they were able to do that. We had some great contributions from our bench including Keylantra Langley and some other players who came in so we're excited about our effort here tonight."
On preparing to play Seton Hall:
"They've played hard. They've played confident. When you have a team coming in with confidence, it's always dangerous. It's always a dangerous game. I don't care if we're playing Seton Hall, UConn, Notre Dame; anybody in our conference can get us. When I talked about a 40-minute game, we talk about winning 4-minute segments, and we did that. We had a complete effort from our team and from our bench, players who have not seen many minutes, but they came in and they were ready today."
On achieving her career high at Madison Square Garden:
"It feels great. It's the world's most famous arena. You can't really ask for more. All the greats have played here from Jordan to Magic Johnson, so to play here is an honor."
Guard Shenneika Smith
On the team battling injuries this season:
"We have a lot of heart. We fight and pull through it. As a team we pull each other together. When one of us goes down, somebody else is there to pick them up and just step up."
