Team Notes
· St. John's 29-point win (61-32) is its largest margin of victory this season.
· The Red Storm led 33-11 at halftime, its largest halftime lead of the season. The 22-point lead broke the previous record of 18 points set in the Red Storm's last game against Seton Hall (Jan. 12).
· St. John's allowed a season-low 32 points on 12-59 shooting from the field. Pitt's 12 field goals are the fewest St. John's has allowed an opponent to score this season.
· The Red Storm outscored Pitt 26-10 in the paint, 14-2 off turnovers, 10-6 on second chance points, 6-0 on fast break points and 20-10 on bench points.
· St. John's committed a season-low 11 turnovers.
· All 10 players who dressed for St. John's scored at least two points.
· At 3-0, St. John's is off to its best start in BIG EAST play since the 1983-1984 campaign.
Tonight's win was St. John's fourth-straight win over Pitt. The Red Storm leads the series 34-16 in the 50th meeting between these two teams.
Individual Notes
· Junior guard Keylantra Langley earned her second start of the season. Langley finished with eight points, six rebounds and two steals.
·Freshman guard Aliyyah Handford scored in double-figures for the sixth time this season and for the fourth-consecutive game. Handford recorded 11 points and grabbed six rebounds.
· Senior guard Shenneika Smith scored a game-high 14 points and grabbed a game-high nine rebounds. The game marked the 11th time this season and 83rd time in her career that Smith scored in double-figures. All nine of her rebounds were defensive. St. John's is 7-2 when Smith is the leading scorer and 7-1 when she is the leading rebounder.
· Senior guard Nadirah McKenith dished out seven assists, grabbed four rebounds and scored six points. McKenith has dished out five or more assists in eight straight games and is averaging 6.3 assists per game over that span. With 509 career assists, McKenith has taken over sole possession of third on St. John's all-time assists record list.
· Senior center Jennifer Blanding scored a season-high four points and grabbed a season-high three rebounds in 11 minutes.
· Freshman guard Ashley Perez scored four points and grabbed three rebounds in 12 minutes of action.
