St. John's Head Coach Joe Tartamella
Opening Statement:
"Coming off the break it's always tough. However, any win in conference is so important. You hope the nonconference schedule prepares you for the start of BIG EAST play and I feel like it has. I thought our players responded and our bench was fantastic. I thought we did a nice job absorbing their runs and never went down too much. I'm proud of the team's efforts and to hold on to a home victory is great."
On the quick turnaround and playing Delaware on Monday:
"It gives us an opportunity to get back on the road and refocus ourselves. We welcome the challenge and we've got to go out and play hard."
On the today's team performance:
"I think it shows us how deep we are. We have several players that can be considered to be a starter on any even given night. I definitely think we can build off our 36 bench points from today."
St. John's Senior Guard Keylantra Langley
On Saturday's win over Seton Hall:
"I think it's a big win for us, but it is always great to come out and get the first conference win. It sets a great tone for us moving forward."
St. John's Sophomore Guard Danaejah Grant
On two consecutive wins:
"The way we set the tone in our win over Texas A&M. It definitely gave us momentum heading into today's game."
On the team effort in Saturday's win over Seton Hall:
"I think we have a tremendous arsenal on this team. On any given night there are several players that can step up and be what we need to win the game."
On being back on the court after sitting out due to transfer rules:
"It's a great feeling. After sitting for so long I have been waiting to get in and help make an impact for the team. To be back on the court and the entire team working together is great."
Seton Hall Head Coach Anthony Bozella
Opening Statement:
"I thought that was a little disappointing for us because I thought we had the opportunity to win against one of the better teams in the BIG EAST on their home floor tonight, but we just couldn't make the good shot and couldn't stop them from making the good shot. I'm proud of the girls. I thought we got tired and you could tell that St. John's had older kids that were able to play through more fatigue than we did."
On having one loss in the new BIG EAST:
"Our thing is that in this league you have to win at home, it's really important, and try and win half of your road games. If you can do that, you're going to be in the top two, three or four teams in the league."
On the offensive tempo:
"We scored more baskets than they did in the game, but we got outscored by 18 points from the 3-point line. Those of you that know me, that is the complete opposite of my games, we always outscore them."
