The St. John's and Villanova matchup was the first meeting between the schools at the BIG EAST Tournament since 2000.
St. John's turned the ball over 17 times for the game after averaging only 11.3 per game during the regular season. It was the third time all season that the Red Storm turned the ball over 17 or more times. St. John's turned the ball over 16 times in the first game at Villanova on Jan 2.
The 53 points from St. John's tied the second-lowest scoring output of the season for the Red Storm with a 53-point effort in a victory over Cincinnati on Jan. 5.
St. John's seven assists tied a season low after the Red Storm dished out just seven helpers in losses against Pittsburgh on Feb. 24 and San Francisco on Dec. 4.
The Red Storm fell to 4-5 in games at Madison Square Garden during the 2012-13 season.
