Schwindel Nabs BIG EAST Player Of The Week Honors

QUEENS, N.Y. - After batting .769 (10-for-13) with one four-hit game and a pair of three-hit games in a 3-0 week for St. John's, first baseman Frank Schwindel was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week. The award marks the first weekly honor of the season for the Red Storm.
Schwindel, who had a hit in six-consecutive at-bats at one point during the week, added four RBI, three doubles and six runs scored to go with a 1.000 slugging percentage and a .786 on-base percentage.
After going 4-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI and three runs scored in a win against FDU, Schwindel went 3-for-5 with one double, one RBI and two runs in the opener against Holy Cross. The first baseman capped the week by going 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored against the Crusaders.
Schwindel currently ranks tied for eighth in the league in RBI (16) and tied for ninth in doubles (5). Martin Kelly is tied for second in the BIG EAST with seven doubles, while Zach Lauricella and Sean O'Hare are both tied for fifth in the league with six doubles to help pace a St. John's offense that has a league-best 37 doubles.
St. John's (6-11) returns to action on March 19 with a 3 p.m. game against Fairfield at Kaiser Stadium.
