St. John's Opens Five-Game Homestand Against Albany, Princeton

QUEENS, N.Y. - After taking two-of-three games in a BIG EAST road series against Georgetown, St. John's (15-21) returns to Queens and opens up a five-game homestand with midweek games against Albany (13-15-1) and Princeton (11-21) that both air on ESPN3. The Red Storm takes on the Great Danes in a 3 p.m. contest on April 16 before hosting the Tigers for a 6 p.m. game on April 17, the first night game at Kaiser Stadium this season.
- After posting just a .204 batting average through the first 11 games (1-10) of the season, St. John's batted .319 in its next 18 games (12-6). The offense, however, has batted just .218 in the past seven games (2-5).
- The St. John's pitching staff is comprised of 10 freshmen, an amount that is tied for the third-most among the 298 Division I baseball programs. Those freshman arms have made 18-of-36 starts this season and have combined to toss 186.2-of-309.1 innings (60.3 percent).
- St. John's leads the BIG EAST with 82 doubles and ranks tied for seventh nationally as of the April 15 rankings. Zach Lauricella, who ranks tied for ninth in the country, ranks tied for first in the league with 15 doubles, while Frank Schwindel is fourth (14) and Sean O'Hare ranks fifth (13). Danny Bethea and Martin Kelly both have 11 doubles and rank tied for seventh in the league.

St. John's Offense Reaches 20-Run Mark For First Time Since 2011 Season
- The St. John's offense scored in seven different innings and totaled 17 hits, including three doubles and a pair of home runs, as part of a 20-1 win against Georgetown (April 14).
- The offensive output marked the most runs scored by the Red Storm since a 25-7 win against the Hoyas on May 14, 2011.
Schwindel Totals Career-High Six RBI As Part Of Second-Career Five Hit Game
- Frank Schwindel set a new career-high with six RBI as part of his second-career five-hit day to pace St. John's in a 20-1 win against Georgetown (April 14).
- The junior finished 5-for-6 with a double and a home run to record his first five-hit game since going a perfect 5-for-5 against North Carolina (June 3, 2012) in the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional Final.
- Schwindel, who has two five-RBI games in his career, recorded the first six-RBI game for a St. John's player since Joe Panik also had six RBI against Georgetown on May 14, 2011.
Hagan Becomes Seventh Member Of St. John's 200-K Club
- Senior Sean Hagan collected the 200th strikeout of his career in a 4-3 win against Georgetown (April 13) to become just the seventh member of the St. John's 200-K club.
- The lefty recorded strikeout No. 200 with a backwards K to end the second inning against the Hoyas.
- Hagan had a career-high 68 strikeouts as a junior last season and 56 Ks as a sophomore. The lefty had 53 strikeouts as a freshman in 2010.
