Kelly Selected To BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

QUEENS, N.Y. - After helping lead St. John's to a 3-2 week, including a series win against then-No. 8 Louisville, Martin Kelly has been selected to the BIG EAST weekly honor roll. Kelly, who capped a four-run eighth-inning rally in the rubber game against the Cardinals with a two-out, two-run single, is the third St. John's player to earn a BIG EAST weekly accolade this season.
Kelly batted .333 (7-for-21) on the week, including .308 (4-for-13) in conference play, and registered three multi-hit games. The redshirt junior scored four runs and added three RBI to go with a .440 on-base percentage and one stolen base.
After going 2-for-4 with a double against Albany, Kelly went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored against Princeton. The outfielder went 2-for-5 with a run scored in the series-opener against the Cardinals before finishing 0-for-3 with a run in the second game. Kelly went 2-for-5 with the go-ahead two-run single and a run scored in the series-finale.
St. John's (18-23, 7-8) leads the BIG EAST with 90 doubles and ranks tied for third with 16 home runs. The Red Storm also ranks fourth with 238 runs scored.
Individually, Frank Schwindel ranks tied for second in both doubles (16) and total bases (84), and ranks fourth in RBI (40). Zach Lauricella is also tied for second in doubles and ranks eighth with a .511 slugging percentage.
St. John's returns to action at 5 p.m. on April 24 with a midweek game against Boston College at Dodd Stadium in Norwich, Conn.
