Vasko Mladenov Tallies Second Straight All-BIG EAST Conference Accolade

QUEENS, N.Y. - After leading the St. John's men's tennis team to a fifth place finish at this year's BIG EAST Championship, senior Vasko Mladenov was chosen as a unanimous selection to the All-BIG EAST Conference Team, as announced by the conference office on Thursday afternoon.
For Mladenov, it's his second consecutive all-conference selection after posting a 15-7 singles record last season.
"Vasko is a tremendous competitor and he gave it his all at every match this season," said head coach Eric Rebhuhn. "Not only will he go down as one of the best players to come out of St. John's, but he helped elevate this program to new heights and we hope to grow even more for years to come."
Mladenov finished his career at St. John's as one of the most successful men's tennis players to ever put on the Red and White.
The Bulgaria native first made his mark by winning the top singles flight championship at the Farnsworth/Princeton Invitational last fall. After picking up the ITA Northeast Regional Championship and BIG EAST Player of the Month honors for October of 2012, Mladenov earned the highest individual ranking in program history as he was ranked at No. 29 in the Preseason Campbell's/ITA Nation Rankings.
After battling a calf injury early in the season, Mladenov compiled a 10-match win streak including victories over first singles players from No. 70 Cornell, No. 64 Dartmouth and No. 56 Yale. The 10-match streak was the longest in the history of St. John's men's tennis. Mladenov finished the season with a 12-5 singles record.
