QUEENS, N.Y. - After setting a spring season low with a 288(+4) in Saturday's round at the Thunderbird Invitational, the St. John's men's golf team matched it with another 288 in Sunday's finale to finish 13th.
Leading the way for the Red Storm was Dylan Crowley, who carded his first under-par round of the spring with a one-under 70. Crowley had a team-high six birdies on the day and was en route to an even better round before a tough double bogey on the final hole.
"I played pretty much the same in all three rounds, but my putting got better and better as the weekend went on," Crowley said. "Besides the bad break on 18, I had 27 putts in the final round, which is something you have to do if you want to play well."
Pat Wilson continued his hot play at Arizona State's Karsten Golf Course as he notched a 72(+1) in the final round behind five birdies to tie for 11th. Jeremy Quinn notched his best round of the tournament, recording just two bogeys and parring his last 12 holes to close with a 72 as well.
Three birdies highlighted Sunday's round for Ryan McCormick, who notched a birdie on the final hole to finish with a 74(+3). Ryan Gay - who along with Wilson led the Red Storm at two-under on Saturday, closed out the tournament with a 78(+7).
UNLV took the team title, while Oregon State's Nick Chianello took the individual title.
Up next for St. John's is the Northwestern Spring Invitational, April 15-16 in Glenview, Ill.
