HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – Eli Weidmann led the St. John's men's golf team at the 2026 BIG EAST Championships at Riverton Pointe Golf Club in Hardeeville, S.C.
Weidmann finished tied for sixth place, the highest placement by a St. John's freshman since Keegan Bradley in 2005. The rookie paced the Red Storm to a sixth place finish in the team competition, the program's highest since it was runner-up in 2023.
The Red Storm shot 1-under, 863 (290-286-287) as a team to claim sixth in the 11-team field. The Johnnies went under par in each of the final two rounds over the two-day competition.
Xavier won its first-ever BIG EAST Championship and first conference tournament in 21 years on Monday. The Musketeers shot 21-under, 843, over 54 holes, including a scorching 13-under, 275, during the final round to catapult into the top spot. Xavier's final round efforts were led by individual champion Cayse Morgan, who went 14-under, 202, for the tournament.
Weidmann went under par in all three rounds and trailed as few as just a single stroke midway through the third round on Monday. The Murphys, Calif., native logged a 5-under, 211 (72-70-71), for his season-best tournament score. The rookie led the team with 12 birdies at Riverton Pointe.
Fellow freshman Max McColgan claimed sole possession of 17th place after registering a 1-under, 215 (73-71-71). After a rocky start on the first five holes, the Lincoln, Mass., native shot 7-under over the final 49 holes, posting 12 birdies and only four bogeys during that span.
Senior David Mlynek concluded his collegiate career with a 2-over, 218 (72-73-73) to log a 24th place finish. Sophomore Joseph Dolezal was the fourth Johnnie to end the event inside the top-30, recording a 3-over, 219 (75-72-72) to close out the 2025-26 campaign.
