St. John’s Closes Out Regular Season at Rutherford Intercollegiate

Red Storm finish ninth at Penn State University Golf Club
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.– The St. John's men's golf team closed out the regular season on Sunday at the Rutherford Intercollegiate, hosted by Penn State.
The Red Storm carded a 21-over, 873, over three rounds of action at the Penn State University Golf Club- Blue Course over the weekend. The Johnnies started off hot logging a 1-over, 285, to open the tournament before posting a 16-over, 300, in the second round of the day on Saturday. St. John's finished the tournament recording a team score of 4-over, 288, during Sunday's final round.
Penn State won its home tournament for the seventh time in last eight appearances. The Nittany Lions carded a 9-under, 843, to win by 11 strokes. Penn State's Andres Barraza claimed medalist honors shooting 5-under, 208 (71-69-68) to pace the field.
David Mlynek led the Red Storm with a 23rd place finish, his second highest of the season since he came in 13th at the Wykagyl Invitational on Oct. 28, 2025. The senior posted a 3-over, 216 (72-74-71). The Prague, Czech Republic native recorded a 1-under, 70, in the third round and sunk seven birdies throughout the tournament.
Joseph Dolezal finished 32nd overall logging a 5-over, 218 (74-73-71) closing the event with an even par on Sunday. The sophomore paced the team with nine birdies. Eli Weidmann checked in one stroke behind Dolezal at 6-over, 219 (68-76-75). The rookie carded the best single-round score by a Johnnie firing a 3-under, 68, to begin the event.
The Johnnies will turn their focus to the 2026 BIG EAST Men's Golf Championships at Riverton Pointe Golf Club in Hardeeville, S.C., on May 2-4.
