Aleksandra Wachowicz Tabbed To BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

QUEENS, N.Y. - Junior Aleksandra Wachowicz was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll as announced by the conference office on Monday evening. In a 3-1 week for the Red Storm, Wachowicz led the team in kills (63) and recorded the second-best kills per set average (4.20), while hitting .295. She also added eight service aces to increase her season per set average to 0.47, which ranks second in the BIG EAST and 29th in the NCAA.
The native of Legionowo, Poland, was also named MVP of the Bryant Invitational after she led St. John's to a 3-0 record and a Tournament Championship. During the tournament, the Red Storm swept UMass-Lowell and host school Bryant and defeated Stony Brook, 3-2. In the win over Stony Brook, Wachowicz led the match with a career-high 28 kills, while hitting .393 and adding four blocks.
This is the second time in Wachowicz's career that she has been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. The first time came on Sept. 3, 2012, after she was named MVP of the Central Connecticut State Invitational.
UP NEXT
St. John's will begin BIG EAST play with a home match against Seton Hall on Friday, Sept. 27 at 7 p.m in Carnesecca Arena. The Red Storm is 10-9 all-time versus the Pirates, winning the last matchup, 3-1, at home on Oct. 26, 2012. Admission is free and the match will air on ESPN3.
