St. John's, moved from seventh in the Northeast to sixth according the NSCAA/Continental Tire Regional Rankings, the team's highest ranking since Sept. 5, when the Red Storm was ranked fifth in the region. The squad's highest ranking this season came on Aug. 26, when the Red Storm was tabbed the fourth-best team in the region by the NSCAA.
The Red Storm's climb to 95 in the RPI caps a meteoric rise through the rankings for Coach Stone's squad, which checked in at 181 in the initial rankings released near the beginning of conference play. The Red Storm, which currently occupies second place in the standings along with Georgetown, is one of five BIG EAST teams inside the top 100, joining DePaul (26), Georgetown (27), Providence (74) and Marquette (94).
Coach Ian Stone and the Red Storm have two regular-season matches remaining, beginning with a Saturday afternoon road tilt against Seton Hall at 4 p.m. The Red Storm then rolls into The Windy City, visiting DePaul for a critical match on Oct. 31 at 4 p.m. ET. A pair of wins in these games would clinch a regular season championship for the Red Storm.
