CAMBRDIGE, Mass. - Despite claiming the doubles point that put No. 30 Harvard on the ropes on their home court, the St. John's men's tennis team could not pull off its second upset victory in as many days as the Red Storm fell to the Crimson, 5-2, in Cambridge, Mass. on Sunday evening.
Junior Lucas Hejhal and sophomore Vaidik Munshaw tallied their third-consecutive doubles victory with an 8-5 win to strike first in doubles action. Sophomore R.J. Del Nunzio and junior Erick Reyes sealed the point with an 8-6 victory at second doubles.
It took a furious Crimson comeback to win the match as Harvard took five of six matches in singles. Del Nunzio won his match at second singles, 4-6, 6-2, 7-6, to give SJU its second point of the match.
St. John's will next travel to Omaha, Neb. to take on new BIG EAST member Creighton for a matchup set for Thursday, April 3 at 1:30 p.m. To keep up with the St. John's men's tennis team this season, follow the team on Facebook and Twitter. Use the hashtag #SJUMT to join the conversation.
