QUEENS, N.Y. - Sophomore Anna Kim was named the BIG EAST Golfer of the Week on Tuesday after forcing a first-place playoff with Columbia's Michelle Piyapattra at the inaugural Pirate Invitational on April 5-6.
Kim entered the final round tied for second after leading the team with a 75 (+3) on Saturday, battling winds of upwards of 20 MPH along the way. The sophomore turned things around on Tuesday, finishing only one stroke over par to card a 148 (+4) but Piyapattra was able to improve upon her first-round of 76 with an even par to match Kim's total and force a playoff.
After an even first hole, Piyapattra was able to take home the victory in the second hole of the playoff, but Kim's performance was not forgotten as the Red Storm finished the day in fourth place overall in the field of 17, carding a 305 to finish with a two-day total of 636 (+60).
With the regular season completed, the Red Storm heads to Daytona Beach, Fla., to compete in the 2014 BIG EAST Championship, played on the LPGA International Golf Course from April 17-19.
