Shea Connors Named BIG EAST Rookie of the Week

QUEENS, N.Y. - After netting her second game-winning goal of the year on Thursday night against Stony Brook, freshman Shea Connors has been named the BIG EAST Rookie of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Monday.

Connors recorded her second tally of the year against the Seawolves, overcoming a fever earlier in the day that almost sidelined her for the game.

Her goal allowed the Red Storm to snap a four-game losing skid and enter BIG EAST play on a winning note.

This is the first weekly award for Connors, who ranks second on the team in points with five on the season.

The Red Storm opens up BIG EAST play on Thursday night, traveling to Cincinnati for a 6:30 p.m. showdown with Xavier.
