Head coach Joe Tartamella
Opening Statement:
"I was very happy with our second half. We came out a little flat in the first half. It's tough playing two games in three days. We were able to hold our ground in the second half and play a much better offensive game. We did a nice job rebounding and converting from the free throw line today. Fourteen assists is a good number to have on the stat sheet. Our effort and focus were much better in the second half."
On the Red Storm's second-half adjustments:
"When we struggle this year, we haven't had the right frame of mind in the first half. We play at the other team's pace. We didn't do the things we needed to do. This group is tough. They are so competitive that they never want to come off the court. We talked about our mentality and what we wanted to do in the second half. We moved the ball well and made better decisions."
On the play of junior guard Aliyyah Handford:
"She has really evolved as a player. She's playing some really good basketball right now since she is a two-way player. She has the toughest assignment against every team and she has to get stops. She is playing great and we need her to."
Junior guard Danaejah Grant
On finishing with a double-double:
"The player I was guarding was crashing the boards, so that was in my mind, to get into a lot of positions to grab rebounds. As far as the assists, the floor was open and they converged on me so I was able to drop the ball off."
On the Red Storm rebounding from Friday's loss to DePaul:
"It says that we're relentless and that we don't let anything hold us down for too long. Of course, we didn't want to lose, but at the end of the day, we made a quick turnaround and it shows that we're tough."
Junior guard Aliyyah Handford
On the Red Storm's 16-of-20 free throw shooting performance:
"We did better today on the free throw line. Last game we didn't do as well but we worked on it and it showed today."
