Horstman Added To Arizona Fall League Roster

QUEENS, N.Y. - Just days before the Arizona Fall League season opened on Oct. 13, former St. John’s standout Ryan Horstman was added to the roster of the Peoria Javelinas. Horstman gives the Red Storm two former players in the AFL this season. Colorado prospect Matt Carasiti, a sixth round selection in the 2012 MLB Draft, is on the roster of the Salt River Rafters.
Limited to just 13.2 innings of work across three levels this past season, Horstman posted a 0.00 ERA and racked up 20 strikeouts to go with a .091 opponent batting average. The lefty saw action with the Class-A Clinton LumberKings, the Class-A Short Season Everett AquaSox and the Rookie level AZL Mariners.
Horstman has posted a 3-0 record to go with a 0.40 ERA and 30 strikeouts in 22.1 innings of work in three minor league seasons. The lefty has allowed just a .171 opponent batting average.
A fourth round selection in the 2013 MLB Draft, Horstman was chosen by the Seattle Mariners as the 117th overall pick after earning Freshman All-America and third team All-BIG EAST honors at St. John’s.
