BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. -- The St. John's men's golf team closed out the fall portion of its schedule on Tuesday as five Red Storm freshmen combined to post a team score of 319-320--639 (+63) at the Mountaineer Intercollegiate.
Freshmen Troy Evans and Seung Yub Baek paced the St. John's squad to a 14th place showing. Evans improved two strokes in his second go-around at the Pete Dye Golf Club by carding a 79-77--156 (+12), while Yub Baek posted a 77-79--156 (+12).
Michael Conforti shot six strokes better in his final round, finishing the tournament with an 85-79--164 (+20).
Penn State took home the team title in dominating fashion recording a team score of 294-291--585 (+9). Connecticut and Mississippi State rounded out the top-three with scores of 295-300--595 (+19) and 308-288--596 (+19), respectively.
Davis Baxter from Cincinnati captured the individual title after shooting five strokes under par with a 70-69--139.
