QUEENS, N.Y. - After three-consecutive weeks of earning an honorable mention nod to the squad, Rachel Daly has been named to the Top Drawer Soccer team of the week, it was announced this morning.
Daly earns the accolade after becoming the Red Storm's all-time leading goal scorer this past weekend, registering two tallies in a 3-0 win over Marquette. With those two goals, the senior forward passed Adriana Viola for first place on the program's career goals (42) and points (94) lists.
Over her past five games, Daly has put up four multi-goal outings, bumping her season total to 11. The Harrogate, England, native leads the BIG EAST and ranks fourth nationally in goal scoring, while topping the conference and ranking sixth in the NCAA in points.
Daly has led the Red Storm to its best start in program history with a record of 11-1 through 12 contests. The team's 3-0 mark in conference play is also the best beginning to a BIG EAST campaign in Red Storm history.
St. John's returns to action on Thursday afternoon, traveling to Georgetown for a 3 p.m. showdown with the Hoyas. The game will be broadcast live on the BIG EAST Digital Network.
