11 Red Storm Players Selected as NFCA Scholar-Athletes

QUEENS, N.Y. - The awards keep racking up for the St. John's softball squad as the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced 11 of the Red Storm's 21 members from the 2014-15 squad were named NFCA Scholar-Athletes.
Joining recent graduates Erin Burner, Francesca Carrullo and Ellen Czuba were current Johnnies Shirley Chui, McKenzie Murray, Yvonne Rericha, Alyssa Rusch, Taylor Stimson, Kaitlyn Wilkens, Carly Williams and Lauren Zick.
"This honor goes to show how serious our student-athletes are about excelling not only on the field but also in the classroom," head coach Amy Kvilhaug said. "I would like to congratulate them on their accomplishment and commend them for embodying the value to strive for excellence in all areas of their lives."
To qualify as a NFCA Scholar Athlete, a student-athlete must finish the 2014-15 academic year with a minimum 3.5 GPA.
