QUEENS, N.Y. - Following a season that saw the Red Storm record its best BIG EAST record in program history, Head Coach Ian Stone has announced the addition of goalkeeper Katie DeVault (Santa Ana, Calif./Fresno State) to his roster for the 2015 campaign.
"We are very happy to welcome Katie to the St. John's Women's Soccer family," said Stone. "It is wonderful for our program to get such an experienced and accomplished goalkeeper to come and play with us for her fourth year of eligibility."
DeVault joins the Red Storm following an outstanding three-year tenure at Fresno State, where the Santa Ana, Calif., started 57 of the 60 games in which she appeared in net and ranked second on the school's career saves list with 322.
As a junior in 2013, DeVault started all 20 games for the Bulldogs, surrendering 18 goals on the season for a GAA of just 0.91. DeVault also turned in a career-best save percentage of .839 and recorded a share of six shutouts, five of which were solo blank sheets, as a junior. That season, the Bulldogs recorded a record of 10-8-2, advancing to the semifinals of the Mountain West Conference Tournament.
DeVault garnered several accolades from the Mountain West as a junior, earning Defensive Player of the Week honors for three-consecutive weeks from Oct. 7-21 and finding a spot on the All-Conference First Team.
During her sophomore campaign in 2012, DeVault saw action in four shutouts for the Bulldogs, allowing 1.66 goals per game in 20 starts and ranking 15th nationally in saves. She was also named Mountain West Co-Defensive Player of the Week on one occasion.
As a freshman, DeVault recorded her first of two winning seasons as Fresno State's starting goalkeeper, tallying a record of 8-5-3. In nearly 1900 minutes of action, DeVault turned in a GAA of just 1.06. She was twice voted as the WAC Defensive Player of the Week during her rookie season, finishing second in the league in save percentage.
