BEALLSVILLE, Md. -- After sinking a 25-foot putt in the first hole of the championship playoff, junior Anna Kim was able to come back and hit a four-footer to seal the win and pick up her second collegiate title with a win at the 2015 Lady Hoya Invitational.
"It was awesome," said Kim. "I couldn't make any putts yesterday or today during the round but during the playoff I made every putt. I was just laughing about it because I was able to make the putts when it counted."
The junior finished the day with a 76 (+4) to force a three-way tie with Cristina Felip (LIU) and Jacquelyn Eleey (Georgetown) with a two-day total of 230 (+14). After sinking back-to-back putts in the playoff holes, Kim was able to bring home the victory and secure her sixth Top-10 finish of the season.
As a team, the Red Storm finished the two-day event in 10th after carding a three-round total of 1010 (+146).
Senior Cameron Lambertson remained consistent in the final round of play, matching her second-round total of 78 (+6) to finishing tied for 12th with a 239 (+23).
Freshman Daniella Castaneda was able to improve a stroke on the final day of play to finish tied for 39th with a 253 (+37) while Lindsey Oliva rounded out the team total with a 295 (+79) for 72nd.
Brittany Hurst was able to cut eight strokes off her day-one total, finishing the two-day event with a 301 (+85) to take 73rd overall. Competing as an individual, Saskia Sterud was able to card a 81-82-84--247 (+31) to finish the event in a tie for 29th.
With its third event of the season in the books, the Red Storm will face a quick turnaround as it heads to the Trump National Golf Course in Bedminster, New Jersey, to compete in the 2015 Pirate Invitational from April 2-3.
