St. John's got the gears rolling early as Krystal Puga and Erin Burner teamed up for back-to-back two-out singles and Monique Landini worked a work, allowing Brittany Garcia to clear the bases with a double into the left-center gap to put St. John's on the board, 3-0.
The Red Storm was able to put up two more runs with a two-out rally, batting around the order to end the first with a 5-0 lead.
After a leadoff single by Lexi Robles and a stolen base to open the second, Puga was able to plate Robles on a RBI double into the left-center gap, adding another run on the board for the Red Storm.
With the help of another Rhode Island error, the Red Storm was able to put across another run to extend the lead to 7-0 into the third.
Rhode Island responded in the top of the third with a pair of runs on four hits and a St. John's error to cut the Red Storm lead to 7-2.
Burner took things into her own hands in the bottom of the fourth, sending her second home run of the weekend deep over the centerfield fence to put St. John's out to a 9-2 lead.
The momentum continued for the Red Storm as it posted up seven more runs on seven hits in the bottom of the fourth to bring St. John's to a 15-2 lead.
The Rams were able to respond with three runs on back-to-back singles to bring their run total to five but the Red Storm was able to end the inning to take a 15-5 victory.
Francesca Carrullo (2-3) earned the victory after allowing four runs on seven hits, striking out four batters in 4.1 innings of work. Caitlin Kennedy (0-6) took the loss after 3.2 innings of work.
The last time the Red Storm was able to put up 15 runs against an opponent was back on April 19, 2007 as it defeated Fairleigh Dickinson, 15-4, in game one of a doubleheader. St. John's had 11 different batters pick up hits in the victory while Taylor Stimson earned her first collegiate RBI and Ellen Czuba picked up her 100th career hit.
The Red Storm will return to action for its home opener with a doubleheader against Dartmouth on March 19, carried live on ESPN3.
