QUEENS, N.Y. - After scoring seven goals and recording a pair of assists in a two-game week for St. John's, junior Eric DeJohn has been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. The attackman earns his second conference honor roll of the season and second of his career since joining the Red Storm prior to the 2014 campaign.
DeJohn posted a robust 53.8 shooting percentage in this week's pair of games for St. John's, putting 69.2 percent of his shots on target while scoring two man-up goals and adding one groundball.
A native of Syracuse, N.Y., DeJohn opened his week with a five-goal, one-assist performance against No. 6 Yale on March 3, helping St. John's push the undefeated Bulldogs to overtime in a narrow 11-10 defeat at DaSilva Memorial Field. The attackman needed just 10 shots to score his five goals, marking a single-game career high, while his two fourth-quarter tallies helped the Red Storm erase a 7-4 second-half deficit to force extra time in a Queens, N.Y., blizzard.
DeJohn followed up his career-high performance against Yale by scoring two goals and tallying one assist against No. 1 Syracuse in the Cobb County Classic in Kennesaw, Ga., on March 7. The junior recorded all three of his points in the opening quarter of play, helping St. John's become the first team this season to lead the undefeated Orange after the first stanza and at halftime. DeJohn needed just three shots to score his two goals against Syracuse.
DeJohn currently ranks third in the BIG EAST at 4.00 points per game, is tied for third at 7.00 shots per game, and ranks fifth in both goals per game (2.20) and assists per game (1.80).
St. John's returns to action on Saturday, March 14, welcoming Drexel to DaSilva Memorial Field for a 1 p.m. non-conference clash on ESPN3.
