Munshaw Named BIG EAST Player Of The Week

NEW YORK, N.Y. -- After a standout week that saw him go undefeated in singles and doubles play, where he and his partner are ranked 66th in the country, junior Vaidik Munshaw has been named BIG EAST player of the week.

Munshaw has tallied 11 singles victories in the team's 15 matches, and sits at 11-2 on the season. He and Lucas Hejhal, his doubles partner, have posted a 6-3 record overall so far.

Munshaw earned three consecutive singles victories this past week, with his most recent win in a three-set thriller, 6-2, 0-6, 6-0, against Ziqi Wang from Yale. Munshaw and his doubles partner, Lucas Hejhal, also earned a doubles victory to help lift the Red Storm over Yale, 4-3.

Earlier in the week, the Ahmedabad, India, native defeated opponents from NJIT and Stony Brook in straight sets. Munshaw's dominant performances have helped the Red Storm go on a tear, winning five-straight matches.

The St. John's men's tennis team is 9-7 overall on the season. Up next, the Red Storm head down to the nation's capital on April 3 to take on UNC-Wilmington and George Washington University.
