QUEENS, N.Y. - After wrapping up one of the most successful seasons in the history of the program, the St. John's men's tennis team has placed four of its players on the all-conference team.
Sophomore Robert Livi paced the Red Storm in the award selection, earning BIG EAST Co-Player of the Year honors alongside Zach Muek of Xavier. The 2014 BIG EAST Rookie of the Year, Livi finished the season with a 16-4 record, highlighted by a 12-match winning streak in singles play heading into the NCAA Tournament. Playing primarily at the number three singles slot, Livi posted a 10-1 record at that position. A one-time Player of the Week selection this season, he went undefeated at the BIG EAST Championship, including one of the final singles wins of the tournament to break a 2-2 tie against Marquette.
Eric Rebhuhn made it two major awards for the Red Storm, earning BIG EAST Coach of the Year accolades. This marks Rebhuhn's second-consecutive BIG EAST Coach of the Year honor and the third overall of his career. In addition to winning three matches in Indianapolis to take the conference crown, the Red Storm was also the top team in the regular season, earning the league tournament's number one seed.
The Most Outstanding Player of the 2014 and 2015 BIG EAST Championships, Erick Reyes joined Livi as one of the Red Storm's two unanimous selections to the all-conference squad. A stalwart at the second singles position for the Red Storm, Reyes went 10-4 overall on the season, highlighted by a 9-3 mark in the second slot. A one-time player of the week selection, Reyes was one of three members of the Red Storm to go 3-0 at the BIG EAST Tournament.
Rounding out the All-BIG EAST selections for the Red Storm are Lucas Hejhal and Vaidik Munshaw, who spent the entire season in the ITA Doubles Rankings, currently sitting at No. 89 nationally. In addition to their prowess as partners, the two also turned in stellar individual performances, as Hejhal compiled a 13-5 record in the top singles slot, while Munshaw went 13-5 on the season, ranging anywhere from the third to sixth slots. At the NCAA Tournament in Charlottesville, Va., this weekend Hejhal put up a valiant effort against Virginia's Ryan Shane, holding the No. 8 ranked singles player in the nation at bay.
