QUEENS, N.Y. - Following a standout career that saw him cement his role as one of the premier defensemen in the BIG EAST, Mark DiFrangia has been named a United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Scholar All-American.
DiFrangia is only the second player in St. John's history to earn the honor and the first since the program's reinstatement for the 2005 season.
An All-BIG EAST Second Team honoree in each of his final two seasons, DiFrangia led the BIG EAST in caused turnovers per game for the second-consecutive campaign in 2015, averaging 1.64 per contest and ranking 11th nationally in the statistic. The defenseman and Red Storm co-captain also corralled a team-high 44 groundballs in his final season while recording the first two points of his career, both on assists.
For his successes both on and off the field, DiFrangia was named a candidate for the 2015 Senior CLASS Award.
DiFrangia graduated with a degree in finance this past weekend, compiling a GPA of over 3.4 during his time in Queens.
