QUEENS, N.Y. - With the start of the 2015 season drawing closer by the day, St. John's Women's Soccer Head Coach Ian Stone has announced an addition to his 2015 recruiting class, as Claudia Cagnina will suit up for the Red Storm this fall.
The third member of the class of 2019 from Long Island that has chosen to play her college soccer at St. John's, Cagnina hails from Lindenhurst, N.Y., where she played three years of varsity soccer at Lindenhurst High School. As a senior, the midfielder tallied three goals and seven assists. As a member of Brentwood Pride on the club circuit, Cagnina helped lead her team to back-to-back State Cup Championships and back-to-back Disney Showcase Championships in 2013 and 2014, in addition to a no. 1 national ranking.
St. John's Women's Soccer will kick off the 2015 season on Aug. 21, heading east on the Long Island Expressway for a 7 p.m. showdown against Stony Brook.
