QUEENS, N.Y. - With just over a week left before the beginning of the 2015 campaign, a pair of St. John's players has been recognized among the nation's best, finding spots on the TopDrawerSoccer Preseason Top 100.
Georgia Kearney-Perry checked in at no. 20, while Rachel Daly entered the rankings at no. 36.
Both players were honored by the publication's Top 100 list at the conclusion of last season, as Daly was ranked 70th and Kearney-Perry checked in at no. 78.
Kearney-Perry, a graduate student, returns to St. John's for one more year following a brilliant 2014 campaign that saw her named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year. The Tring, England, native anchored a Red Storm backline that posted nine clean sheets on the season and registered a goals against average of just 0.65 during conference play. Kearney-Perry also showed offensive prowess toward the end of last season, recording the first two goals of her career in the BIG EAST Tournament. Earlier this week, Kearney-Perry was also honored by TopDrawerSoccer as a Best XI Second Team selection.
Daly, the 2013 BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year and a First Team All-BIG EAST selection a year ago, is poised for a big senior season in red and white. A selection to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List, Daly led the team in goals last season with eight after topping the nation in scoring as a sophomore with 23 tallies. Ranking near the top of the St. John's career record book in a number of categories, Daly is within striking distance of the program's career marks in goals, points and shots despite only having three years of competition in Queens.
The Red Storm will kick off the 2015 season on Friday, Aug. 21, heading to Stony Brook for a 7 p.m. match with the Seawolves.
