QUEENS, N.Y. -
After leading the St. John's women's soccer team to its second- and third-straight wins last week, senior Diana Poulin was an Honorable Mention selection for Top Drawer Soccer's National Team of the Week.
Poulin, who earned her second-consecutive BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week honor on Monday, stopped a total of 11 shots in a pair of victories last week. The Red Storm beat Xavier, 3-1, before knocking off Villanova, 1-0, to clinch a berth in the BIG EAST Championship field for the fourth time in as many seasons and the fifth time in the last seven years.
Poulin's eight saves en route to her BIG EAST-leading 11th shutout of the season on Sunday set a new single-season program record for clean sheets. Former Johnnie Kristin Russell posted 10 clean sheets during the 2008 and 2009 campaigns. The shutout was Poulin's 31st career clean sheet, leaving her one behind Russell's program record of 32 and eighth on the NCAA active leaderboard.
Overall, the Hauppauge, N.Y. native continues to lead the BIG EAST in many statistical categories. Her 0.44 goals-against average leads the league and ranks 11th nationally, while her .887 save percentage tops the conference and ranks ninth in Division I. Poulin's 11 clean sheets are also a conference best and are the third-most in the country.
Poulin and the Red Storm return to action on Friday when they host Providence in the final regular season match of the 2016 season. Prior to the contest, the St. John's women's soccer team will honor those players who will be playing in their final regular season home game at Belson Stadium. The first kick is scheduled for 7 p.m. on the BIG EAST Digital Network.
